Human cultures–as far back as history records them–have maintained their own cultural explanations for why things are the way they are. Oral tradition gave way to heiroglyph, pictograph, and written word.

Every ancient culture had an origin story–an explanation for how the world came to be. Most ancient cultures include the concept of a Tree of Life as well, and explain its significance from their own perspective. Finally, they all seemed to have one more story in common–regardless of where in the world their culture was based–and that was a flood account. If ancient cultures all over the globe experienced a similar catastrophe, and generations of remembered history transitioned to recorded history, then it stands to reason that there must have been such a global flood event that effected disconnected cultures unilaterally. Here are the flood accounts of various ancient cultures.
